Chief Executive Officer - Valuation Tribunal for Wales (Remuneration package: up to £69,496)
The Valuation Tribunal for Wales (VTW) is looking for a talented leader to become its next Chief Executive. The appointed person must be able to manage what is essentially a small stand-alone business of 16 staff, 75 tribunal members and an annual budget of £1.1m. They must be able to do this in a public service context, with all the scrutiny and accountability that this entails. Tact and diplomacy, prudence and flair, incisiveness and vision are all necessary qualities. A good working knowledge of non-domestic rating and council tax is also highly desirable as the Chief Executive is, by law, the Clerk to the Tribunal – although dealing with these issues is not a day-to-day activity. Transferrable skills from different areas of the law or from other relevant professional practice would, however, be acceptable. Applications are welcomed from Welsh speakers and non-Welsh speakers alike; although if the appointee does not currently have any Welsh language skills, they will be encouraged to develop at least simple conversational Welsh when in the role.
The appointment process will include an open day at our Newport office to meet staff and members of the VTW and find out more about our business. This will later be followed by formal interview in front of the VTW’s Governing Council.
Further details and an application form are on the VTW’s website Jobs (valuationtribunal.wales).
Closing date for applications is Friday, 21 April 2023.
